Babywearing Education for Birth Workers
Sunday January 12th from 10 am - 4 pm
This workshop is designed to share best practice information on babywearing with those working in the field of pregnancy, birth, and pediatrics to better equip you to support your clients and families.
Topics and information we will cover in this one day workshop:
-Babywearing as a tool: hormones, bonding, infant development
-Newborn babywearing (evidence based best practice)
-Babywearing with preemies and multiples
-Woven wraps for birth education classes and labor support
-How to make the most out of non-optimal carriers that may be passed onto to your clients, I.e. narrow base carriers, and what carriers are not safe for use in any capacity.
-History of babywearing, cultural appropriation and babywearing/babywearing education
-Helping clients navigate baby carriers to chose the right one for their family (will include role playing and address commonly asked questions)
-Hands on practice with 3 types of carriers

This class is best suited for doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, birth assistants, in home baby nurses, support and play group leaders, occupational and physical therapists, pediatricians, and anyone interested in becoming more knowledgable about best practice babywearing.
This class is taught by a certified babywearing educator and pediatric occupational therapist.
